Nygard Regatta

Every Memorial Day weekend down at Camp Brown in Scotland, Maryland NCAC holds this annual Nygard regatta. The regatta is an activity you do to compete against other ships on your nautical Sea Scout skills.

Some of the skills that you take place in rowing, canoeing, life ring toss, powder monkey, compass, relative bearings, semaphore flag, heaving line, pulling boat, knot tying, boatswains call, international code flags, navigation problem, drill, marine radio, splicing, uniform inspection, boatswains chair, and galley.

At the end of the weekend plaques are given the first place winners of all competitions and the overall first, second, and third place winner. To conclude the weekend the overall first place ship boards the pulling boat and lays a wreath in the water for troops the risked or and still risking their lives for us.
