Sea Scouts to Honor Arthur Astor Carey

Sea Scouts will honor the founder of Sea Scouts in the United States on June 30, 2012 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

The ceremony will be at Little Harbor Chapel and at Creek Farm, both located on Little Harbor Road in Portsmouth, NH.  Creek Farm was the summer home of Arthur Astor Carey and the Little Harbor Chapel is an “un-denominational chapel” established by Arthur Astor Carey.

A brief ceremony will take place at the Little Harbor Chapel followed by a procession down Little Harbor Road to Creek Farm.  Ms. Jennifer Reichle and other direct descendant of Arthur Astor Carey will be in attendance. Sea Scout officials from New England and Rev. Phillip Reichle will help preside during the ceremony.

The Society of Protection of New Hampshire Forest (SPNHF) now owns Creek Farm, though 3 acres and 2 buildings are leased to Cornell and run by the Shoals Marine Lab (part of a Marine Biology Coop between Cornell and UNH). Creek Farm is open to the public, by contract, dawn to dusk, and is 34 acres with walking trails along Sagamore Creek, and the Piscataqua River Basin in Portsmouth.
