The 2016 Central Region Rendezvous is right around the corner! The 6th Annual Central Region Rendezvous will be held on May 20 at Camp Illinek on Lake Springfield in Illinois. Traditionally 100+ Sea Scouts and Venturers join in for a weekend (two nights of camping are optional) of fun on the water.
What to Expect
This year, we will be shifting the focus of the event to Saturday so that we can ensure our focus is to give everyone an unforgettable day on the water. If a unit would like to arrive Friday, there will be optional movies and a fun nighttime activity although the staff will be busy preparing for Saturday. On Saturday, the waterfront opens early because there will be over 30 on and off the water activities and competitions. The Ship Challenge first introduced in 2014 was a huge success and will be back, so plan to earn as many points as possible by participating in as many competitions as time allows. Some of the Sea Scouts favorite activities, the JY-15 Regatta, Sea Scout Triathlon, and Cardboard Canoe Race will take center stage. The day will end with huge cookout, a traditional Bridge of Honor, and a bonfire.
Camporee style camping will be available for units who choose to stay overnight. There are modern shower and restroom facilities right in the camporee field! The bulk of the events will take place on the waterfront behind the Sailing Center.
